The purpose of Val's Awards is to honour websites that are excellent in all respects. |
These awards are not easy to win, so please read the Criteria below carefully as it will be strictly adhered to. Make sure your site qualifies before submitting your application, thus saving your time and ours. |
CRITERIA |
We are looking for sites that are visually pleasing, have information of value and are entertaining. |
The intended purpose of your site must be obvious and its content consistent. |
No pornography, nudity, offensive material or racism. Must be family safe. |
The main or title page should be brief, no more than one scroll down. |
Text should be neither too small to read comfortably nor so large that it "shouts". |
If you have music, it must be able to be turned off. |
No broken internal links or spelling errors. |
No Under Construction signs. It is common knowledge that all sites are under construction. |
No blank or incomplete pages. If a page is not ready to view, do not publish it! |
No trailing cursors or items floating across pages. |
Pages must load within 30 seconds at 33.6kbps. Flash sites in particular take note! |
Flash entry pages should have a "Skip Intro" button. |
If the content of your site is outweighed by links to other sites it will not be considered. |
Any photos must be sharp and clear. |
The site must be easy to navigate, efficiently organised and well designed. All pages must have a uniform appearance. |
One or two animations per page, MAXIMUM! |
If your site crashes our browser it will not be evaluated. |
Must be in English or have an English translation. |
Your "Awards Won" page must be easily found. Do not make us search for it! |
Personal sites that are solely for the purpose of selling/money making schemes are not invited to submit. Professional commercial sites are welcome. |
**In order to comply with C.O.P.P.A. we will not accept applications from anyone below 14 years of age. |
Should you meet our standards, we will email you within two (2) weeks. **If you win, you must link back to this site within two (2) weeks of notification and send an email to let us know you have complied. |
If you have not notified us within two (2) weeks, you will have to re-apply. |
You will be added to our Winners' page with a link to your site when we have verified that the award graphic and link are in place. |
If, after winning one of our awards you change your site address, you must notify us of the new URL or have a re-direct on the old page. Failure to do this will result in your listing being removed from the Winners' page. |
